Tips for how to make brushes!
This guide shall help you create great brushes for your web and graphics!First: What is a brush?
A brush is... a brush! The only difference between the default brushes you most likely have in your program is that the brushes that you will make will be much more better!
Note!
I use Paint Shop Pro 9, so I think this guide will work for you if you have PSP 8, but I'm not sure about PSP 7 and Photoshop.
Now, on to the guide!
How to create a brush:
1. Open a new image, background most preferred white, size should be big, depending on your brush, try 400x400.
2. Now, you make the brush however you want it to be.
3. Now, click on the selection tool or on the S on your keyboard and select your brush.
4. Click on the Paint Brush tool or on the B on your keyboard.
Click on tool presets-create brush tip from selection.
5. Now a window will show up, called 'Create Brush Tip'. Write down a name for your brush, the author (you, of course!) and description if you want. Now click ok and done! You have made a brush!
Now, I'll show you tricks and ideas of how to make brushes:
1. The Shape Tool. There are plenty of shapes there to inspire you for brushes, or to help you make a brush. You can also edit the shape if you click on the Pen Tool, and then on the Edit Mode.
2. Text is really great for making brushes too. There's a tutorial in Neo-Reality that shows how to write text around the image. That could be a good brush, and is useful for graphics.
3. The Pen Tool! Straight line, weird or to any angle and place, this is also useful for brushes!
4. Effects! For example, blinds can be good to create brushes.
And that's it! I hope you created a great brush=)
